Evaluation of Three Different Obturating Techniques in Primary Molar using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography: An In vitro

Background:
Good obturation along with hermetic seal is the goal standard for both primary and permanent teeth root canal procedures.
Aim:
The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the efficacy of pastinject, motor-driven lentulo-spiral, and insulin syringe as obturating techniques in primary molars using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Materials And Method:
Sixty primary molar root canals were randomly divided into three groups based on obturating techniques: Pastinject, lentulo-spiral, and insulin syringe. Canals were prepared and obturated with zinc oxide eugenol cement. CBCT was used to evaluate obturation quality and void presence, with Chi-square and independent t-tests used for statistical significance.
Results:
Pastinject had the most optimally filled canals, while motor-driven lentulo-spiral had the most overfill canals. Insulin syringe had the highest underfill canals, and pastinject had the least voids.
Conclusion:
It was concluded that the pastinject technique showed maximum optimally filled canals with minimum voids.
