In vivo detection of antisense HIV-1 transcripts in untreated and ART-treated individuals

Natural antisense transcripts (AST) are expressed in people with HIV-1 (PWH), even without cell activation. These findings suggest AST may play a role in HIV-1 persistence during antiretroviral therapy (ART).
