Continuance intention of older adults to adopt virtual reality application: Insights from SEM and fsQCA analysis

Abstract:
Virtual Reality Application (VRA) is an innovative frontier that creates new opportunities to enhance the quality of life for older adults in their later stages. The degree of continuous and efficient use of VRA by older adults directly affects the effectiveness of VR technology in improving their physical and mental well-being. The study sought to identify the key factors and configurations that lead to high Continuance Intention (CI). Therefore, this study developed a CI model to explain the CI of older adults in using VRA. Moreover, it was analysed using Structural Equation Modelling and fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis. The findings showed that Satisfaction (ST), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Self-Efficacy (SE), and Security (SEC) have a positive effect on CI. The results showed that three configurations could improve CI, with high ST necessary. Finally, this study proposes recommendations to enhance the CI in older adults using a VRA from the design.
