Innovative drug discovery for cardiovascular metabolic inflammation diseases

Abstract:
Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. Recent research has underscored the pivotal role for the interplay between metabolism and inflammation in the pathogenesis of diverse cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, focussing on the regulation of metabolism and reduction of inflammation has considerable potential for the development of novel drugs to treat cardiovascular diseases. In this review, we provide a comprehensive discussion of the relationship between inflammation and metabolism in cardiovascular illnesses. We also discuss the drugs that specifically target these processes. In addition, we introduce novel molecular mechanisms implicated in the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases and novel technologies that have broadened our understanding of the changes in metabolism and inflammation. Finally, we explore the obstacles in drug discovery for cardiovascular diseases and future research directions in these metabolic inflammation diseases.
