    Attentional focus significantly impacts pattern visual evoked responses (VERs), reducing their amplitude when subjects ignore visual stimuli. Flash VERs, however, remained unaffected by attention.

    Background:

    • Visual evoked responses (VERs) are crucial electrophysiological measures of visual pathway function.
    • Attention is known to modulate sensory processing, but its specific impact on different types of VERs requires further investigation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effect of focused attention versus passive viewing on pattern and flash visual evoked responses (VERs).
    • To determine if attentional modulation differs between pattern- and flash-elicited VERs.

    • Pattern and flash VERs were recorded from normal subjects under two conditions: attending to and ignoring visual stimuli.
