An assessment of the potential impact of eugenol on multidrug-resistant pathogens

Abstract:
Multi-drug resistance is the ability of some microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses, to tolerate the effects of numerous medications. This phenomenon decreases the efficacy of current therapies, which causes longer illnesses and higher mortality rates. As a result, it presents an enormous threat to the healthcare sector. Research and countermeasures are of vital importance to address this global health problem, as the development of multi-drug resistance is frequently associated with inappropriate use of antibiotics or prolonged use. Our objective is to find the medicine that effectively addresses multidrug-resistant infections. Moreover, more than 100 phyto-compounds and eight receptor proteins were docked. The study showed that eugenol phyto-compound had the best docking score outcomes. The characteristics studied in the research of the eugenol compound showed that it has great prospects as a powerful antibiotic against multi-drug-resistant microbes. Further research and clinical trials are needed to confirm the efficacy of eugenol as a potential treatment for MDR infections. If proven successful, this natural compound could offer a promising solution to combat antibiotic resistance in the future.
