To address the problem of broad emission spectra of organic luminescent materials, a novel and effective molecular design strategy is presented to reduce the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of emission by integrating the multi resonance (MR) B-N moiety into the pyrene-based backbone system, named DtBuCzB-Py. Taking advantages of BN-core in narrowband emission and planar rigid structure, the obtained compound DtBuCzB-Py not only exhibited narrowband emission (FWHM = 25 nm in toluene solution; FWHM = 38 nm in spin-coated film) and high fluorescence quantum yield (Φ F = 77.2% in toluene solution; Φ F = 36.8% in spin-coated film), but also strong self-assembly ability.
