Blood Pressure Thresholds for Hypertension in Pregnancy and Future Cardiovascular Risk

Lowering the blood pressure threshold for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) increased HDP incidence but did not alter the association between HDP and future cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk.

- While lowering the blood pressure threshold increases HDP diagnosis rates, it does not change the fundamental association between HDP and the risk of developing future cardiovascular disease.
- The findings underscore the importance of recognizing HDP, even at lower blood pressure elevations, as a significant indicator of future CVD risk.
