CUIDAVEN®, an app for the care of people with vascular access. A care innovation project

Venous catheters are the most common invasive devices used in hospitals. There are multiple complications associated with its use, such as phlebitis and bacteremia, with clinical variability in care and poor patient involvement in their own self-care being the main reasons that justify these complications. Clinical apps, as innovation tools, can be a tool that helps professionals access reliable information for care and patients in their own self-care. Cuidaven® is an app designed specifically to improve adherence to best practices in the care of people with venous catheters, and to increase health education and involvement of patients in their own clinical safety and self-care. The implementation of Cuidaven® has led to an improvement in nurses' adherence to good practices, a decrease in complications associated with the use of venous devices and an increase in patient knowledge through NOC indicators.
