Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study was conducted with 430 patients diagnosed with floaters in Weifang, China.
  • Data on demographics and KAP regarding floaters were collected using web-based questionnaires.
  • Statistical analyses, including correlation and structural equation modeling, were employed.

Main Results:

  • Mean knowledge score was 8.81±4.20, attitude score was 17.23±5.05, and practice score was 14.67±2.95.
  • Knowledge positively correlated with practices (r=0.239, p<0.001).
  • Attitudes were inversely associated with practices (r=-0.219, p<0.001), with knowledge directly influencing practices and attitudes negatively impacting them.

Conclusions:

  • Patients with floaters exhibit suboptimal knowledge and negative attitudes.
  • Despite this, many patients adopt proactive practices for managing floaters.
  • Interventions should aim to enhance knowledge and foster positive attitudes to improve patient practices.
