Asymmetric α/β-Ga2O3 hetero-phase junction for enhanced piezoelectric catalysis

This communication describes the design of a highly active prismatic Ga2O3 piezocatalyst. A unique α/β-Ga2O3 hetero-phase junction was formed by the temperature-induced transformation between the α phase and β phase of Ga2O3, which could break the coordination symmetry and simultaneously change the energy band structure, leading to a boosted displacement current and electron transfer under ultrasonic vibration.
