Abstract:
Herein, HPLC-MS/MS was used to identify various compounds in the ethanol extract of the Chamaecytisus drepanolobus plant. The anti-Candida and antioxidant activities of the plant extract were also evaluated. Candida guilliermondii showed the largest inhibition zone (12.45 ± 0.02 mm), while Candida tropicalis (8.20 ± 0.01 mm) and Candida famata (8.30 ± 0.1 mm) exhibited the smallest inhibition zones. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for all tested Candida spp. strains fell in the range of 31.25-61.5 μg/mL for inhibition zone diameters ranging from 8.2 to 12.17 mm. The antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract (IC50: 0.2002 mg/mL) is notable and slightly higher than that of the standard BHT, demonstrating the antioxidant potential of C. drepanolobus. Compositional analysis of the ethanol extract revealed high concentrations of quinic acid, malic acid, gallic acid, and cosmosiin (1925.63, 1471.05, 140.31, and 133.85 µg analyte/g extract, respectively), the compounds responsible for the plant's antiradical and antifungal properties.
