Management of unintentional extubation during left pneumonectomy

Unintentional extubation can occur during pneumonectomy. Reintubation is sometimes difficult due to the position of the patient. Satisfactory ventilation can be achieved by means of an endotracheal tube inserted into the open bronchial stump, allowing elective reintubation to be performed transorally.
