Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

The Antisocial Process Screening Device (APSD) shows acceptable reliability for assessing psychopathic traits in youth. Parent and teacher reports are more reliable than self-reports for this measure.

  • The Antisocial Process Screening Device (APSD) is a widely used tool for assessing psychopathic traits in youth.

  • To evaluate the overall reliability of the APSD using a reliability generalization meta-analysis.
  • To identify factors contributing to the heterogeneity in APSD reliability estimates.

  • A reliability generalization meta-analysis was conducted across 158 studies.
  • Data from 75,749 participants were analyzed.
  • Moderation analyses examined the influence of administration format and score variability.
