Summary

Uterine carcinosarcoma without myoinvasion presents a poor prognosis and high distant recurrence rates. Adjuvant chemotherapy did not show statistically significant survival benefits in this rare condition, though further research is needed.

Background:

  • Uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) is a rare and aggressive malignancy.
  • UCS without myoinvasion is exceptionally uncommon, with limited data on its oncologic outcomes.
  • Understanding the prognosis of this specific subtype is crucial for treatment planning.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the long-term oncologic outcomes of patients diagnosed with uterine carcinosarcoma without myoinvasion.
  • To analyze recurrence patterns and survival rates in this rare patient cohort.
  • To investigate the potential impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on outcomes.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 97 patients with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics 2009 stage IA UCS without myoinvasion from 11 global centers.
