    Background:

    • Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear.
    • It is characterized by episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and aural fullness.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the long-term efficacy of the cochlear endolymphatic shunt operation for Meniere's disease.

    Main Methods:

    • The cochlear endolymphatic shunt operation was performed on 102 ears.
    • Follow-up data was collected on 90 cases, with follow-up ranging from one month to six years.

    Main Results:

    • Definitive vertigo was relieved in 72% of cases.
    • Hearing worsened (AAO criteria) in 45% of cases at an average of 12.6 months postoperatively.

    Conclusions:

    • The cochlear endolymphatic shunt operation can effectively relieve vertigo in a majority of Meniere's disease patients.
    • However, a significant portion of patients experience hearing loss following the procedure.
