Juvenile-onset open-angle glaucoma (JOAG) is a rare and refractory form of glaucoma, primarily characterized by structural abnormalities in the trabecular meshwork and Schlemm's canal. These abnormalities disrupt aqueous humor outflow, resulting in elevated intraocular pressure and progressive glaucomatous damage. Pharmacological and laser therapies are generally ineffective in managing JOAG. Surgical intervention, particularly Schlemm's canal surgery, is considered an optional component of its treatment.
