Insights
Intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and ptosis (IDDDFP) is a rare genetic condition linked to BRPF1 gene variants. This case highlights a new BRPF1 variant causing IDDDFP in a young girl with ptosis.

Background:
- Intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and ptosis (IDDDFP) is a rare genetic disorder.
- BRPF1 gene variants are known to cause IDDDFP.
- Early diagnosis and genetic understanding are crucial for patient management.
Abstract:
Intellectual developmental disorder with dysmorphic facies and ptosis (IDDDFP) is a genetic disorder caused by variants in BRPF1. We report the case of a 2-year-old girl who presented with drooping of the left upper lid since birth and who was ultimately diagnosed with IDDDFP. Genetic testing identified a maternally inherited stop-loss variant of the BRPF1 gene. The literature on reported cases of BRPF1 is also reviewed.

The Retinoblastoma Gene
The first-ever tumor suppressor gene called Rb was identified in retinoblastoma - a rare eye tumor in children. In inherited forms of the disease, a child inherits one defective copy of the Rb gene, which predisposes them to retinoblastoma. However,...
