Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to significantly improve monitoring in the operating room, allowing us to detect and predict changes in the patient's physiology sooner and better optimize patient care. Currently, clinically available applications of AI in anesthesia monitoring are limited to 2 models-the hypotension prediction index and the Nociception Level Index. Active research is exploring many other applications of AI in anesthetic monitoring with promising preliminary results. While much research remains for many of these applications to reach clinical use, AI will likely be widely used in intraoperative monitoring in the longer term.
