    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the rate of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) decline in patients with type 1 diabetes and early-stage diabetic nephropathy.
    • To determine if the duration of diabetes before the onset of nephropathy influences the rate of GFR decline.
    • To analyze the clinical course and timeline to end-stage renal disease in patients with diabetic nephropathy.

    Main Methods:

    • Observational study of 18 individuals with type 1 diabetes and diabetic nephropathy.
    • Monitoring of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) over an average of 3 years.
    • Analysis of the correlation between diabetes duration and GFR decline rate.

    • There is no specific point in the disease course where individuals with diabetes can be considered safe from developing diabetic nephropathy.
    • Diabetic nephropathy progresses consistently, regardless of complication onset timing.
