[Psychosomatic sets of symptoms in schizotypal personality disorder]

To establish the functional activity of pseudoallergy sets of symptom complexes manifesting as a part of the schizotypal personality disorder.

The study sample included 23 cases with manifestations resembling the clinical presentation of allergic dermatoses and skin symptoms of allergic diseases with no signs of somatic-related allergic sets of symptoms (medical history/laboratory studies). The patients were examined using clinical, laboratory, and psychometric methods followed by statistical data processing.

There are two types of functional activity of pseudoallergic reactions: "amplification" and "overlap" of clinical manifestations of schizotypal personality disorder. In accordance with the hypothesis based on the data obtained, pseudoallergy refers to adaptive dimensions (a marker of endogenous process stabilization), ensuring the stability of manifestations of schizotypal personality disorder as a part of latent schizophrenia. To confirm the hypothesis, modern neurobiological and genetic research data were used.

From the point of view of clinical practice, pseudoallergy is a severe psychosomatic disorder that requires multidisciplinary specialized care with the involvement of allergologists-immunologists and psychiatrists focused on psychosomatic medicine.
