Summary

Alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) techniques using bone grafting or titanium membranes are effective for posterior tooth extraction sites. These methods better preserve ridge dimensions compared to unassisted healing, reducing future implant complications.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate dimensional changes in posterior extraction sockets using four ARP methods.
  • To compare modified free gingival graft (MFGG), MFGG with xenograft (MFGG+XG), guided bone regeneration with titanium membrane and xenograft (TM+XG), and unassisted socket healing (USH).

Main Methods:

  • Randomized controlled trial with 22 patients per group.
  • Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) used for assessment.
