Comment on: "Using crowdsourcing to assess HPV knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes in the United States"

Abstract:
We comment on the recent study by Smith et al., which explored HPV-related awareness, knowledge, and behaviors in a US population using crowdsourced data collection. While the study demonstrates innovation in its use of Amazon Mechanical Turk (mTurk) and delivers important public health insights, several limitations such as cross-sectional design, sample representativeness, and limited behavioral outcome interpretation merit further reflection. Future studies should aim to improve generalizability, assess temporality, and enhance the integration of behavioral change theory into HPV prevention strategies.
