Abstract:
A new study identifies MpCYP78E1, a cytochrome P450 enzyme, as a repressor of meristem initiation and activity in the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha. An MpCYP78E1-derived, as-yet-unidentified mobile signal arrests one meristem after dichotomous branching in a shade-environment-dependent manner.
