Application of Long-Range Wi-Fi Standard "802.11ah" in Hospitals and International Comparison of Standards

802.11ah is a new Wi-Fi standard characterized by low-speed, long-range, and IoT-oriented TCP/IP-compliant communication. While it is expected to be widely utilized in the medical field, there are few documented cases of experiments on its propagation and application within hospitals. Due to the limited available case studies, this work represents one of the first systematic evaluations of 802.11ah propagation in a hospital environment. In this study, we conducted an experiment on its propagation in an actual hospital ward, and the findings are reported here. Additionally, we discuss the differences in 802.11ah regulations across countries and the impact of duty cycle limitation.
