Visualization of Portable Ultrasound Usage in Operating Rooms Using Bluetooth Low Energy Beacons

Abstract:
The efficient utilization of medical devices is crucial. This study aimed to develop a method to visualize and optimize the usage patterns of portable ultrasound devices in operating rooms using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) transmitters were attached to the devices, and receivers were placed in storage. The results showed that newer models were not always the most frequently used, suggesting that factors such as device placement and physician preference influence device selection. By visualizing usage patterns, healthcare facilities can optimize device placement, improve workflow efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
