Abstract:
Unlike previous studies focusing on nurses' use of electronic health records (EHR), this study investigates the staffing and organizational role of nurses in charge of information management in Japanese hospitals. Responses were received from 110 nurses working in hospitals with over 300 beds. Among them, 25 nurses were working full-time in medical information management departments, mainly in hospitals with over 700 beds. Challenges identified included lack of knowledge and organizational management issues related to nursing information.
