  • Initial treatment with amoxicillin for tonsillitis was followed by symptom recurrence and rash development.

Observation:

  • Laboratory tests confirmed Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, indicative of infectious mononucleosis.
  • Concurrent herpes simplex virus (HSV)-1 oral ulcers were noted.
