Abstract:
For the first time, we report the fabrication of a PET@UiO-66 vial as an efficient and robust catalyst for the sustainable synthesis of 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridines using a multicomponent reaction. The structure and morphology of the fabricated PET@UiO-66 vial were characterized by using PXRD, FTIR, optical microscopy, and FESEM analysis. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm analysis revealed a specific surface area (SSA) of 564.359 m2/g, a maximum pore volume of 0.06 cm3/g, and a pore diameter of 3.05 nm. Optimization studies of reaction conditions for the synthesis of 2,4,6-trisubstituted pyridines showed that TBHP as an oxidant in THF at 60 °C afforded good to excellent yields. The main advantage of this protocol is the stability of surface-modified vials, reusability, and operational simplicity.
