Ultra-high-resolution LCD backlight partition light-color isolation technology
Abstract:
The novel, to our knowledge, ultra-high-resolution LCD-partitioned color-tuning technology uses metal grilles to achieve backlight partition light-color isolation. However, the design of the metal grille is extremely demanding in terms of thermal expansion matching, machining accuracy, and installation precision, and any slight deviation may significantly affect the display effect. To this end, this paper proposes a demetallized grille optical structure that integrates a black matrix array on a diffusion sheet. Although this scheme eliminates the limitations of the metal grille, its optical efficiency is only 67.06% of the standard structure of the metal grille, the color crosstalk rate is 4.26%, and there are obvious dark areas in the corners of the backlight partition of the structure, which do not meet the design requirements. For this reason, this paper further proposes a square prism high-efficiency concentrator structure with an integrated black matrix array, which, by optimizing the structural parameters, improves its optical efficiency to 106.28% of the standard structure and reduces the color crosstalk rate to 0.12%, while effectively eliminating the dark-area defects. Apparently, this structure achieves an optimal balance between optical efficiency and color purity, effectively replacing the optical structure of the integrated metal grille. It provides an economically viable and practical solution for light-color isolation in the novel ultra-high-resolution LCDs.
