Pregnane Steroids From the Whole Herb of Pachysandra terminalis and Their Cytotoxic Activity

Four new pregnane steroids, terminalones A-D (1-4), were obtained from the whole herb of Pachysandra terminalis Sieb. et Zucc (Buxaceae). The structures were determined by various spectral techniques. The cytotoxic activity against the human cancer A549, HCT116, and SW620 cell lines of the isolated compounds was evaluated by the CCK8 method. Compounds 1-4 exhibited different cytotoxic activities against these tumor cell lines. Among them, compound 4 displayed good cytotoxic effects toward HCT116 and SW620 cancer cells with IC₅₀ values of 60.73 ± 2.51 and 43.12 ± 0.43 µM, respectively.
