Depressive disorders in children. Validation of clinical syndromes

This article summarizes current data regarding affective disorders in prepubertal children. There is particular emphasis on the validation of depressive disorders as distinct entities in child psychiatry, the various subtypes of childhood affective disorders, and how they are or they are not similar to the same types of disorders that occur in adults.
