Correct the Deep Creases after Double Eyelid Surgery by Anatomical Restoration With Scar Tissue Flap and Cause...

Double eyelid surgery is a popular cosmetic surgery among Asian populations. Although the recovery period has passed after surgery, some patients still have an unnatural appearance with deep creases, leading to unsatisfactory surgical results. Patients hopes to achieve a shallow and more natural double eyelid creases through repair surgery.

By performing surgical repair on patients with deep double-eyelid creases, anatomic restoration, and scar tissue flap suturing are used during the surgery to achieve a shallower crease and a more natural-looking double eyelid.

From June 2019 to January 2024, 73 patients with deep creases after double eyelid surgery who had visited were included. During the repair surgery, a scar tissue flap was dissected, and the adhesion from the original surgery was loosened. The upper eyelid tissue was anatomically restored. Preoperative and postoperative pictures were collected to evaluate patient satisfaction, complications, etc. Surgical outcomes were assessed and compared using the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale. The depths of crease were also measured and compared.

The vast majority of patients recovered well after surgery. The patients were followed up for 6 months to 3 years, with an average follow-up period of 12.3 months. The double eyelid line was stable, without loosening, and the crease was significantly shallower compared with preoperative condition, maintaining a natural dynamic state.

For patients with deep crease of double eyelid, anatomic restoration with a scar tissue flap can effectively shallow the depth of crease, resulting a more natural appearance.
