Abstract:
We study the magnetic transport properties of topological Dirac semimetals (TDSMs) slabs through the analysis of Hall and longitudinal conductivities, as well as resistivities. Our findings reveal that the transition of the system's properties from a semimetal to a semiconductor can be controlled by adjusting the external electric field. Simultaneously, the topological phase of the system can be manipulated by varying the magnetic field. The discovery of additional Hall plateaus and peaks in longitudinal conductivity further enriches our understanding of the conductivities in TDSMs. Furthermore, we provide comprehensive analyses of the effects of electric field, magnetic field, temperature, and carrier concentration on the Hall and longitudinal conductivities, as well as resistivities in Cd3As2and Na3Bi.

Semiconductors
Metals such as copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), or lead (Pb) have low resistivity and feature conduction bands that are either not fully occupied or overlap with the valence band, making a bandgap non-existent. This allows electrons in the highest energy levels of the valence band to easily transition to the conduction band upon gaining...
Theory of Metallic Conduction
In this theory, Newton's second law of motion is used to determine the acceleration of an electron in the presence of an applied electric field. Then, its velocity is expressed via this acceleration.
An electron moves through the crystal, containing positive ions,...
Magnetic Susceptibility and Permeability
When diamagnetic materials are placed under an external magnetic field, the moments opposite to the field are induced. Hence, the susceptibility for diamagnets has a minimal negative value of 10-5–10-6. Since...

Schottky Barriers
Schottky barriers arise when a metal with a work function (Φm) contacts a semiconductor with a different work function (Φs). Initially, electrons transfer until the Fermi levels of the metal and semiconductor align at equilibrium. For instance, if Φm > Φs, the semiconductor Fermi level is higher than the metal's before contact. The...
Diamagnetism
Diamagnetism was discovered by Anton Brugmans in 1778 when he observed that bismuth gets repelled by magnetic fields, thus theorizing that diamagnets get repelled by magnets....
