Case:
A 10-year-old girl with Hereditary Sensory Motor Neuropathy presented with bilateral cavovarus foot deformity. She underwent bilateral percutaneous plantar fascia release and tibialis posterior tendon transfer to the dorsum of the foot. Four weeks postoperatively, she developed a medial plantar artery pseudoaneurysm, confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. Surgical exploration and arterial ligation were performed successfully.
Conclusion:
Pseudoaneurysm of the medial plantar artery after plantar fascia release is extremely rare. Anatomical variations may contribute to this complication. We recommend a semiopen plantar fascia release technique to mitigate the risk of vascular injury. Increased awareness may improve the patient safety.
