Summary

This study compared the irritant effects of nonanoic acid (NON), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), and benzalkonium chloride (BENZ) in 100 hospitalized patients. Nonanoic acid showed reproducible, easily readable reactions without scarring, suggesting it as a safer alternative for irritancy testing.
