Background:
The aggressive wire recanalization in calcified atheroma and dilation technique is performed to treat eccentric calcified lesions in the peripheral arteries.
Case Summary:
We present a clinical case in which this technique was successfully applied to treat an eccentric calcified nodule (CN) in the right coronary artery.
Discussion:
CN is an independent predictor of poor clinical outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention. Our experience suggests that this technique may be an effective treatment for CNs.
Take-Home Messages:
CNs in the coronary artery remain an issue for percutaneous coronary intervention, and insufficient lesion modification of the CN is associated with unfavorable results. The aggressive wire recanalization in calcified atheroma and dilation technique is an effective option to treat CNs in terms of intentionally creating brand-new guidewire bias.
