    Summary

    Heterotopic adrenal tissue, a rare finding, was discovered in two adult patients during surgery for cryptorchism. This adrenal tissue was located in the inguinal canal and near the testicle and rete testis.

    Background:

    • Cryptorchism, or undescended testes, is a common congenital condition in pediatric patients requiring surgical correction.
    • During surgical exploration for cryptorchism, incidental findings can provide valuable insights into anatomical variations.

    Observation:

    • A cohort of 102 adult patients undergoing surgical repair for cryptorchism was reviewed.
    • Two patients presented with an unexpected anatomical finding during their procedures.

    Findings:

    • Heterotopic adrenal tissue was identified in two adult patients operated on for cryptorchism.
    • In one case, the adrenal tissue was located within the inguinal canal.
    • In the second case, the adrenal tissue was found at the junction of the testicle and the rete testis.

    Implications:

    • This finding highlights the potential for adrenal tissue to be found in unusual locations, such as the inguinal canal and testicular vicinity.
    • Such occurrences may have implications for understanding developmental anatomy and potential diagnostic challenges in related surgical or endocrine evaluations.
