A new comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) assay, HemeSight®, has been developed for hematological malignancies. It accurately detects key genetic alterations, aiding diagnosis and treatment in Japan.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Genetics
- Molecular Diagnostics
Context:
- Hematological malignancies require genetic alteration evaluation for clinical decision-making.
- No comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) assays are currently approved in Japan for these cancers.
- Accurate genetic profiling is crucial for diagnosis, treatment selection, and prognosis.
Purpose:
- To develop and validate a novel CGP assay for hematological malignancies.
- To analyze mutations, structural variations, and fusion genes across 452 genes.
- To establish a cloud-based analysis and reporting system.
Summary:
- The HemeSight® CGP assay was developed, analyzing 452 genes for genetic alterations.
- It demonstrated high sensitivity, detecting genetic alterations at 5-10% allele frequency in non-clinical samples.
- Clinical validation showed high positive agreement: 94.4% for mutations, 94.7% for IGH rearrangements, and 100% for fusion genes.
Impact:
- HemeSight® offers a validated solution for comprehensive genomic profiling in Japanese hematological malignancy patients.
- This assay can improve diagnostic accuracy and personalize treatment strategies.
- It addresses a critical unmet need for approved genomic testing in Japan.
