Steric engineering enables precise hierarchical control of Pd2L4 assembly through well-defined ring (Pd2L2) and bowl (Pd2L3) intermediates. This finding allows active steering of metastable species into functional states, offering a programmable strategy for manipulating the assembly pathways.
