Urgent Chemotherapy for Swift Symptom Relief in Patients With Medulloblastoma

Medulloblastoma, the most prevalent malignant brain tumor in children, typically requires a multimodal treatment approach including surgery, chemotherapy, and craniospinal radiation. Chemotherapy is particularly crucial in controlling tumor growth in young children (<3-5 years old), where craniospinal radiation is often avoided due to its detrimental neurocognitive side effects. This report highlights two remarkable young children with metastatic SHH-medulloblastoma who presented with severe and life-threatening neurological symptoms. Following emergency administration of intensive chemotherapy, both patients demonstrated rapid and significant clinical and radiological response, underscoring the potential use of chemotherapy as a salvage therapy in such critical situations.
