Phenotypic heterogeneity in adenomyosis: internal and external subtypes

Intrinsic and extrinsic adenomyosis (AM) have distinct clinical profiles and risk factors. Intrinsic AM is linked to higher gravidity and parity, while extrinsic AM is associated with ovarian endometrioma and deep infiltrating endometriosis.
