Dexamethasone suppression test and subcategories of DSM-III major depression

Among 37 patients with DSM-III major depression, the nonsuppression rate of the dexamethasone suppression test was significantly higher in patients with recurrent and melancholic major depression (83%) than in those with single episode and/or nonmelancholic major depression (31%).
