Abstract:
Ischemic stroke is the most significant complication of diseases of the cardiovascular system associated with atherosclerosis and atherothrombosis. For the treatment of stroke, pharmacological thrombolysis and endovascular surgical interventions are most effective if medical care is provided within the therapeutic window (4.5 hours). However, not more than 10% of stroke patients receive reperfusion therapy. Early antiplatelet therapy may be an alternative treatment strategy for patients who have not undergone thrombolysis or surgery. Recent clinical studies have demonstrated the high efficacy and safety of immediate (after the first signs of acute cerebrovascular accident) use of antiplatelet agents. The article discusses methods of early antithrombotic protection of the brain in patients with varying severity of ischemic stroke.
