[The concept of madness among the Cainguá (Mbŷá) of Misiones]

To analyse the madness concept among the Cainguá (Mbŷá) it is necessary to be acquainted with their culture, as this concept becomes meaningful only within that culture frame. The Cainguá (Mbŷá) have preserved a singular theology whereof the comprehension makes possible an approach to the real being within that culture. This group keeps its ethnic individuality through a culturally patterned attitude of rejection and withdrawal from accidental culture, which has been dominant in its territory, especially since the 17th century.
