Background:

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) hypovolemia diagnosis is challenging due to inconsistent low CSF pressure and radiographic findings.
Traditional diagnostic methods for CSF hypovolemia have limitations in sensitivity and specificity.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and evaluate the efficacy of a novel diagnostic procedure, the CSF refill test, for CSF hypovolemia.
To assess the diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility of the CSF refill test in patients with suspected CSF hypovolemia.

The study analyzed 27 patients with suspected CSF hypovolemia, including retrospective and prospective cohorts.
A standardized CSF refill test involving intrathecal injection of artificial CSF was performed.
