Background:
Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a rare large-vessel vasculitis that can lead to vascular complications, including aneurysm formation.
Case Summary:
A 30-year-old woman with TA, treated with oral steroids and azathioprine, presented with shortness of breath. Computed tomography angiography revealed multiple infrarenal aortic pseudoaneurysms, but intervention was delayed owing to active disease. Once her condition stabilized 1 month later, she underwent hybrid endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Two months later, she developed a right popliteal artery pseudoaneurysm after vascular access for a type II endoleak, which was managed conservatively.
Discussion:
The anatomical complexity of this case demanded a tailored, innovative approach. A hybrid surgical procedure combining EVAR with femoral-femoral crossover grafting techniques proved feasible and effective. The successful outcome of this case underscores the value of a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach.
Take-Home Message:
Hybrid EVAR can be a safe and effective treatment option for complex vascular complications in patients with TA.
