Abstract:
The second NMDP-sponsored, Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)-funded workshop, Reimagining Caregiving Together: Engagement to Address Caregiver Requirement Barriers, occurred in May 2025. The workshop convened a diverse group of stakeholders in developing a patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) agenda for alternative hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) care models to improve access to treatment. This report shares content from the workshop and recommended research questions identified by the workshop participants. Research questions focused on five primary areas: 1) generate further awareness of the problem and buy-in for alternative models; 2) improve understanding of the current state; 3) build patient-centered models; 4) create change through policy and advocacy, and 5) co-create through community engagement. The goal of this work is to collaborate with, and enable action among, the HCT community to lead efforts prioritized by key stakeholders.
