Abstract:
Platelets are traditionally recognized for their role in hemostasis and thrombosis. Recent advances reveal their critical involvement in immune responses and inflammation. This review explores platelet biology, including activation mechanisms, release of bioactive molecules, interactions with immune cells, particularly neutrophils, and their regulation of inflammation resolution. We also discuss neutrophil apoptosis pathways and how platelet-derived factors influence this process. Understanding these interactions offers new insights into immune modulation and potential therapeutic targets for inflammatory diseases.
