Reconfigurable terahertz polarization-selective wavefront steering with MoTe2/metal hybrid metasurface
Abstract:
Active control of electromagnetic wave wavefront is essential in developing cutting-edge optics devices ranging from radar stealth, wireless communication, and optical imaging. In this work, we present a reconfigurable terahertz polarization-selective wavefront steering based on a dual-row 2D molybdenum ditelluride (MoTe2)/metal hybrid metasurface. By applying the Pancharatnam-Berry (PB) phase that operates for linear polarization, the metasurfaces enable dynamic wavefront diffraction control from ±1st order to 0th order, accompanied by the polarization rotation from y to x polarization. Interestingly, the theoretical perspective of the Jones matrix matches well with the simulated results, and the conversion efficiency of diffraction order displays a positive dependence on the pump light. Furthermore, the results of the orthogonal initial angles of the metasurface also prove the reconfigurable conversion of the theoretical analysis. Our findings offer new insights into advanced polarization and wavefront control meta-devices.
